WELCOME to the BET Summer Camp for Girls web site.
The fourth annual BET Summer Camp for Girls is a residential camp program designed to address childhood obesity and to promote healthier lifestyles through health literacy, nutrition, fitness, exercise, positive thinking, and self-responsibility. The goal is to help young African-American girls, ages 10-12 to make healthier lifestyle choices while understanding the key-risk behaviors that can lead to obesity and cardiovascular diseases in adulthood. Girls participate in a comprehensive program, which include nutrition seminars, daily exercise, sports, creative and therapeutic arts, group and one-on-one guidance counseling and a myriad of fun, age-appropriate play activities. Participating girls are referred to a 4-month after-camp program, which expands on the camp health, nutrition and fitness curriculm. | |
